Flandreau FFA Booster Club Bean Bag & Softball Tourney - August 18

The 2nd Annual Flandreau FFA Booster Club Softball and Beanbags tournament will be held on August 18 at the Flandreau City Park.

These tournaments will act as a membership drive for the FFA Booster Club.

The softball tournament will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 18. This tournament is open to any graduates of Flandreau Public School and anyone at least 18 years old who live or work in Moody County, excluding high school students. Players do not have to become members with the Booster Club to play. Registration costs will be on a per player basis.

In order to update the Flandreau FFA Booster Club membership database, members of the teams are asked to submit a registration form including name, address, phone and e-mail contact information. Players who choose to join or renew membership in the Flandreau FFA Booster Club can pay $7 to play. Those who wish not to become members of the Booster Club can register for $10.

Team Captains can instead chose to complete a team registration form to submit all players on the roster at one time. Complete Rosters must be submitted before the start of the first game and no additions or substitutions to the roster can be made.

Winners of the tournament can expect a monetary payout of 25% of the total softball registration incomes. The 2nd place team will receive 10% of the total registration fees.

The bean bags tournament will begin at approximately 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 18 and is open to all ages. Anyone who lives or works in Moody County is eligible to participate. Teams of two must register together and stay together with no substitutions throughout the tournament.

Registration for this tournament will cost $5 for a team with both members joining or renewing membership with the Booster Club. A team with only one individual joining the Booster Club can register for $7.50 and a team with which neither player wishes to join the Booster Club can register for $10.

Registration is due at the beginning of the first round of tournament play. Bean bags winners can also expect a monetary payout at the end of the tournament. The winning team will receive 25% of the total bean bags registration fees incomes and the second place team will earn 10% of the total registration fees.

Plans are in place to have a double elimination tournament for both softball and bean bags. Depending on the number of bean bags teams, there may be a single elimination qualifying round to start the bean bags tournament.

Individuals interested in joining the FFA Booster Club without participating in the tournaments are also encouraged to do so. Membership is open to anyone who graduated from Flandreau Public School and to anyone who lives or works in Moody County. These individuals can join by paying $5 dues and by submitting their name and contact information.

Registration for both tournaments can be started by contacting FFA Advisor Josh Christiansen at josh.christiansen@k12.sd.us or 605-864-7993. Softball captains are strongly encouraged to contact Josh to indicate interest before August 11, 2012.
